Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity Rules:

General Provisions:     The Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity will be shown each year in four divisions. (Weanling, Yearling, Two Year Old and Three Year Old.) All Foals shown must be the produce of Stallions and Mares who have been previously nominated in The Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity.

How to Nominate Stallion and Mare:  Nomination of Sire: To Nominate a Stallion in the Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity, it is necessary that (1.) the stallion must be registered in the American Hackney Stud Book or the Canadian Hackney Stud Book and (2.) that a fee of $25 must be paid to the Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity on or before April 15th of the year the foal is nominated. Nomination of Mare: To Nominate a Mare in the Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity, it is necessary that (1.) the Mare must be registered in the American Hackney Pony Stud Book or the Canadian Hackney Stud Book and (2.) that a fee of $5.00 must be paid to the Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity on or before April 15th of the year the foal is to be eligible for the Weanling Division.

Weanling Division:  In order to make a Foal eligible to show in the Weanling Division of the Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity, the following conditions must be complied with:                                                

1. The Sire and Dam must be nominated in the Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity the year in which the foal is born.                                                                                                                                                            

 2. The Foal must be registered before it can be shown.                                                                              

  3. A fee of $30.00 must be paid to the Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity. First installment of $15.00 must be paid on or before May 31st of the year the foal is born. The Second and final installment of $15.00 must be paid on or before July 1st of the year the foal is born.                                                                       

  How Shown: The entries in this division shall be shown in hand, in halter or lead bridle. To be judged 50% conformation and 50% action.

Yearling Division:  In order to make a Colt , Filly or Gelding eligible to show in the Yearling division of the Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity, the Following conditions must be complied with                                                                                                                                                                                                                

   1. The Colt, Filly or Gelding must have been nominated in the weanling division of the Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity and all requirements of that division must have been fulfilled.                                         

2. The Colt, Filly or Gelding must be registered to show.                                                                            

 3. A Fee of $30.00 must be paid to the Ohio Hackney Futurity. First installment of $15.00 must be paid on or before February 15th of the yearling year. The second and final installment of $15.00 must be paid on or before April 15th of the Yearling Year.                                                                                 

  How Shown:  The entries in this division shall be shown in hand. In Halter or Lead Bridle. To be judged 50% confirmation and 50% action.

Two Year Old Division:  In order to make a Colt, Filly or Gelding eligible to show in the Two Year Old Division of the Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity, the following conditions must be complied with:                                                                                                                                                                

1. The Colt, Filly or Gelding must have been nominated in the weanling and yearling divisions of the Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity and all conditions and requirements of those divisions must be fulfilled.                                                                                                                                                          

2. The Colt, Filly or Gelding must be registered to show.                                                                           

3. A fee of $30.00 must be paid to the Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity. First installment of $15.00 must be paid on or before February 15th of the Two Year Old Year. Three Year Old Division:  In order to make a Colt, Filly or Gelding eligible to show in the Three year old division of the Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity, the following conditions must be complied with:                                                                                                                                                               

  1. The Colt, Filly or Gelding must have been nominated in the weanling, yearling and two year old divisions of the Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity and all conditions and requirements of those divisions must have been fulfilled.                                                                                                                                

 2. The Colt, Filly or Gelding must be registered to show.                                                                           

  3. A fee of $30.00 must be paid to the Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity. First installment of $15.00 must be paid on or before February !5th of the Three year old year. The second and final installment of $15.00 must be paid on or before April 15th of the Three year old year.                                                                

How Shown: Performance Classes - Hackney Pony Cob tail and Long tail Harness Pony classes shown to a four wheel vehicle. Roadster Pony class shown to a two wheel road bike. Pleasure Pony class shown to a two wheel pleasure cart. To be judged 40% conformation, 60% action.

Premiums:  In each class, the winner will receive 1st 40%, 2nd 25%, 3rd 20%, 4th 10%, 5th 5%. All prize money shall be paid by the Futurity Secretary by check within 30 days after the Ohio State Fair. A trophy will be awarded in each class. Prize money not paid out will be returned to the Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity to be included in the next year's purse. If any condition arises not covered by above conditions, the Ohio Hackney Association reserves the right to decide any questions. All ponies, to be shown under the rules as prescribed by the Ohio Hackney Association.                                                                                                                                                      

  (Each nominator is required to pay a current year Membership fee in the Ohio Hackney Association to show in the Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity Classes.)  

Junior Membership $10.00 @ year                                                                                                                 

Single Adult Membership $15.00 @ year 

Family Membership $20.00 @ year (Husband, Wife and All Children under 18 years old)    

      Management assumes no responsibility to remind nominators of Payments due.      Failure to make all payments before the entry shows in a futurity class, will result in the entry being barred from showing.  The right is reserved to reject any entry and to debar any entry from competition for failure to comply with the conditions of the Ohio Hackney Pony Futurity.

(Entries must also be made on the official Ohio State Fair entry blank and submitted by closing date of entries to be able to show.)
